To get a Schutzhund 1 track Joey needs to be able to do a 300 step track with 2 turns,2 articles, and no food .
Right now he can do a 120 step track with 2 turns but we are still using food and still having problems with the article. Joey can now do the article perfectly well at home, but on the track he is always sure that the little inconspicuous bock of wood, leather, or carpet is life threatening and there is no way he is going to down in front of it.
Here are the "life threatening" articles that Joey refuses to down in front of.
Don't they look dangerous?
They certainly do look terrifying lol Do you proof with them out side of tracking? It might help to work on him just doing obedience on and around them even using them as a target for something. Good luck
ReplyDeleteYeah, I've done a little, and he does pretty well at home but on the track he still refuses to down. Maybe I should practice the articles outside. And using the articles as a target is a great idea! Thanks for the tip.
